Peças de produção manual em prata ou ouro
A filigrana, como o próprio nome indica, é feita com finíssimos fios. A técnica, transmitida de geração em geração, permite que estes fios em prata, apesar de terem espessura dum fino fio de cabelo, sejam soldados uns aos outros sem que se deformem nesta minuciosa operação. As peças são todas feitas num trabalho combinado entre as filigraneiras (“enchedeiras”) e as oficinas. Esta técnica teve origem nos contactos com os Fenícios, tendo os artífices portugueses levado-a a uma rara perfeição. A arte da filigrana, de formas predominantemente barrocas, desenvoveu-se no século XIX particularmente no Minho (norte de Portugal).

FILIGREE
Handcrafted pieces of jewellery in silver or gold
Filigree is made out of thin wires. The technique that is passed on from generation to generation allows these silver wires, although they are as thin as hair, to be welded together without being damaged in this careful operation. The jewels are all handcrafted and they are carefully combined between the “filigraneiras” women and the workshops. This technique has its origin from the contacts with the Phoenician, and the Portuguese craftsmen who have then taken it into a sublime and rare perfection. The art of filigree, mainly in baroque forms, developed in the XIX century, particularly in the Minho (north of Portugal).

A arte da ourivesaria galaico-portuguesa remonta a mais de dois mil anos, como testemunham relatos de cronistas romanos e indiciam lendas antigas. Estas jóias são constituídas, em Prata, acrescentando-lhes dois tipos de pedras, as mais pequenas com um brilho escuro são Marcassites e as maiores com uma lapidação tipo diamante são Zircónias.

The art of spanish/portuguese jewellery goes back to more than two thousand years ago, as the Roman chroniclers witnessed and as ancient legends prove. These jewels are made out of Silver, with two stone types, the smaller ones with a dark shimmer are “Marcasites” and the larger ones with a diamond-like cut are “Cubic Zirconias”.
